Jesus Ended Sin, Not Evil.
Jesus Ended SIN NOT EVIL. That is the Entire theme of the Bible from Adam, until Jesus and Revelation. People ask for direct passages saying specifically Jesus ended sin, and stating the difference between sin and evil but there aren't many direct passages because it is the whole underlying message of the first Adam and the Last Adam (Jesus Christ). The difference in sin and evil and Jesus' mission to end sin is contained in every story in the Bible from beginning to end, and is the single most important thing for us to understand today. The way to get to that understanding is by being an honest person in your everyday life.
I like to start with the easiest and fastest things first. So people can see the story, see the most direct passages, and get the whole understanding of what I am saying before I even begin to explain it. I do not try to manipulate like others who make you read the whole thing before they get to the point. So I'll begin with the simplest things, the quick explanation, and then I'll explain it in detail.
Main Passages.
Daniel 9:24
Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.
Psalm 51:5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me. 6 Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.
Romans 8:3
For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
John 1:29
The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.
Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
13 (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law.
14 Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam's transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come.
15 But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many.
16 And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification.
17 For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)
Hebrews 9:26 For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.
27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:
28 So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.
1 John 2:2
And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
There are ages in the Bible, and those ages are inside of another Age, the age from the fall of Adam, until the last Adam restored people to God. Each of those ages have to do with sin, and sin was doing something different in each age.
Begin at the Beginning.
Genesis 2:9
And out of the ground made the Lord God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
Genesis 2:17
But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
Genesis 3:1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.
In the beginning Adam and Eve were without sin, they did not have the knowledge of Good and evil, but there was a tree in their garden which if they ate of it they would become like God having the knowledge of good and evil. Before sin existed, there was already a tree of the knowledge of good and evil, and there were beings like Satan who were evil. Evil existed before sin entered the world.
Genesis 3:11 And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?
Genesis 3:22 And the Lord God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:
23 Therefore the Lord God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken.
***Evil existed before sin ever came into the world. When Adam and Eve sinned, when they went against the only command God gave them, then they knew the difference between good and evil. The point will be to show that evil existed before sin entered, and evil still exists today, after sin is taken away.
Jesus was a redeemer, a sacrifice for sin, someone to reconcile man to God. Adam did not need Jesus before the fall, before sin entered, before death, or the grave entered. Jesus came to end sin, so the grave would end, and so man could have access to God again. Once man has access to the Father again, once they have eternal life again, they no longer need a redeemer.
I'll dispel some false doctrines before I get into the rest. People say Adam and Eve weren't the first people, and that Satan and Eve had sex to give birth to Cain. Those things are not true. Eve was the mother of all living, and Adam and Eve were the parents of Cain.
Genesis 4:1 And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the Lord.
Genesis 3:20
And Adam called his wife's name Eve; because she was the mother of all living.
This next verse is always taken wrong, and because of that, the people have no understanding of who God is, and what life was and is about.
Genesis 3:15
And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
That verse meant there would be a battle in every soul that was born, in each individual, they would each have a battle between right and wrong, good and evil, the flesh or the spirit.
Satan brought man down into the flesh, into the carnal, and anyone who lived after the flesh like Cain did, chose Satan, and became a child of Satan. It started out with Adam and Eve all still being with God, talking with God, and being children of God, them and all their children, but it wasn't long before that tipped to the other side, and everyone chose the flesh, to live after the flesh, and God stopped dealing with them.
Romans 8:6
For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
Romans 8:7
Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
Sometimes it seems I am giving too much information rather than sticking to the subject but I feel like these things are necessary to understand the whole story, not leave holes and questions, and in this case show the progression of sin and in its different times.
Adam and Eve had children for over one hundred years. Their children had children for over one hundred years, and their children's children had children for over one hundred years. In that short time there would have been thousands of people on earth.
Cain was the first murderer, he was not the first to leave the presence of God and be kicked out of the land of Eden. People would not have gone from still trying to do good after the fall of man, straight to murder. There would have been liars, thieves, abusers, those who fought and wounded people. There would have been many people kicked out of the land of Eden before Cain was kicked out.
Here is one of the most misunderstood verses that translators ever tried to translate, and it shows when you read this verse in many different Bible translations. They are very different because no one knew what was being said.
Genesis 4:7
If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.
What this verse actually meant was God telling Cain that Cain was going to kill Abel and take it all too far, that Cain would take sin to the furthest place which was murder, and would be known as the cheif sinner, the one who gave into the flesh to the utmost.
When Cain killed Abel God sent Cain out of the land of Eden, out of the presence of God, where all the undesirables went before him. Eden was a fertile land, but outside of Eden was a wasteland that God did not watch over. It was much harder to live outside of Eden.
Genesis 4:16
And Cain went out from the presence of the Lord, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden.
Genesis 4:12
When thou tillest the ground, it shall not henceforth yield unto thee her strength; a fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be in the earth.
At this time all the people on earth knew each other, and is why Cain said since he killed Abel others would kill him. They were still all one family on the earth. One group of people. God tried to stop terrorism though, he tried to stop the snowball of sin, the beginning of murder in its tracks.
Genesis 4:13 And Cain said unto the Lord, My punishment is greater than I can bear.
14 Behold, thou hast driven me out this day from the face of the earth; and from thy face shall I be hid; and I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond in the earth; and it shall come to pass, that every one that findeth me shall slay me.
15 And the Lord said unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And the Lord set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him.
Lies breed lies, hate breeds hate, murder breeds murder. It took a while, but people started becoming liars, an eye for an eye, and all flesh would start living for the flesh and not the spirit. All people would go in the way of Satan, in the way of Cain and God stopped dealing with mankind. He stopped talking to them, and instead of talking to the
whole world as he did while the few and then more left his presence, the scales became tipped to where all left his presence and he could only talk to few.
Which is the progression these next verses show
Genesis 4:16 And Cain went out from the presence of the Lord, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden.
17 And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, and bare Enoch: and he builded a city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch.
18 And unto Enoch was born Irad: and Irad begat Mehujael: and Mehujael begat Methusael: and Methusael begat Lamech.
19 And Lamech took unto him two wives: the name of the one was Adah, and the name of the other Zillah.
20 And Adah bare Jabal: he was the father of such as dwell in tents, and of such as have cattle.
21 And his brother's name was Jubal: he was the father of all such as handle the harp and organ.
22 And Zillah, she also bare Tubalcain, an instructer of every artificer in brass and iron: and the sister of Tubalcain was Naamah.
23 And Lamech said unto his wives, Adah and Zillah, Hear my voice; ye wives of Lamech, hearken unto my speech: for I have slain a man to my wounding, and a young man to my hurt.
24 If Cain shall be avenged sevenfold, truly Lamech seventy and sevenfold.
25 And Adam knew his wife again; and she bare a son, and called his name Seth: For God, said she, hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew.
26 And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enos: then began men to call upon the name of the Lord.
Another Murderer on the earth. The reason it said men began to call on the name of the Lord, was a way to say God no longer talked to all men, but they were all leaving his presence, and at that time God would only talk to the worthy ones. The ones that sought him and called on him.
Romans 1:20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
23 And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.
24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshiped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.
At first all knew God, Adam, Eve, their children and their children, but people left the presence of God, until eventually the scales tipped to where only a few Knew God. The others started worshiping the works of their own hands.
Then the ones who called on God were known as the sons of God, and to the sons of God the rest of the world was known as the others. Or the Nephilim, or the fallen. That is all the Hebrew word Nephilim means, is to fall. Then even the sons of God were corrupted by the daughters of the others, the fallen ones. The same sin (sex) that made Adam fall in the first place, was finally what pushed all people on earth to no longer call on God.
Genesis 6:1 And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them,
2 That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.
3 And the Lord said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.
4 There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.
5 And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
6 And it repented the Lord that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.
7 And the Lord said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.
8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.
The translators of the King James were living in a time of a belief that made them translate the word Tyrants, or Fierce warriors to the word Giants, and then with the false understanding of verse four we have this ridiculous belief that fallen angels were sleeping with human women. All these false beliefs like Cain being born of Eve and Satan, and bloodlines, all stem from the same evil understanding, or not being able to understand the difference in the flesh and the spirit.
Matthew 22:30
For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.
Angels don't have human genitalia.
Sin progressed in such a way, that all mankind fell from the presence of God. No one knew God, the world was so bad and so removed from the knowledge of God they had in the beginning that even someone preaching about God to the people would have no effect on their conscience. God decided to destroy man off the face of the earth because of sin, and start again with the only man he was still able to get through to.
Noah was another restart. As far as those after Noah were concerned their world had nothing to do with Adam to Noah, except for that all had fallen into sin and mankind was created. They were wise enough to know not to delve into the time before Noah, because they knew God had begun again. That is why through all their writing there are only a few Pages of the history between Adam and Noah, they knew better than to get into things that were not for them, that they didn't understand.
God told Adam and Eve
Genesis 1:30
And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.
God told Noah
Genesis 9:3 Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things.
God told Adam
Genesis 1:28
And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
God told Noah
Genesis 9:1 And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth.
God told Adam's age
Genesis 4:15
And the Lord said unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And the Lord set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him.
With Cain, God tried to stop him from murdering, and stop Murder from happening. God told Noah
Genesis 9:5 And surely the blood of your lives will I require; at the hand of every beast will I require it, and at the hand of man; at the hand of every man's brother will I require the life of man.
6 Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man.
God Told Adam's Age
Genesis 6:3 And the Lord said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.
God Told Noah
Genesis 9:9 And I, behold, I establish my covenant with you, and with your seed after you;
10 And with every living creature that is with you, of the fowl, of the cattle, and of every beast of the earth with you; from all that go out of the ark, to every beast of the earth.
11 And I will establish my covenant with you, neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by the waters of a flood; neither shall there any more be a flood to destroy the earth.
12 And God said, This is the token of the covenant which I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations:
13 I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth.
14 And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud:
15 And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh.
Genesis 8:20 And Noah builded an altar unto the Lord; and took of every clean beast, and of every clean fowl, and offered burnt offerings on the altar.
21 And the Lord smelled a sweet savour; and the Lord said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man's sake; for the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done.
Sin was still in the world, the same sin that was in the world from Adam to Noah, was in the world after Noah, but the way that God dealt with sin was different. The same sin, but different covenant, different circumstances, a different law. Those are the first major changes that God had to do because of sin.
After the fall of Adam and Eve sin was in the world. God did not want one person to kill another but they did, until the world was full of violence. God destroyed the world to start over. There was no point in starting over if nothing was going to change. Why destroy the world and start again? It was still sin that had to be dealt with. So God made a covenant with Noah. God said I will never destroy man off the face of the earth again, or end all flesh. God said he wouldn't because man had proven that it was in their heart to do wickedly constantly. What does it mean that God made a covenant not to destroy man? It meant sin had to be dealt with a different way. God wouldn't eradicate mankind from off the earth, but would send a savior to defeat Satan and the sin he brought.
At that time God knew man would kill one another, he told Noah as much, saying you're all going to kill one another and I will require your blood or your lives at one another's hand since you are all full of violence.
After Noah, life went on, and mankind did what they do, they all became liars, and murderers. God cut the lifespan of humans so they couldn't live so long to do so much evil, so they had a chance to not be overtaken with evil in their lifetime. God mixed up the languages and separated peoples to slow down the progression of evil because lies breed lies, hate breeds hate and murder breeds murder. Still each nation and language did just what they did in the beginning with Adam and Eve, they left God, worshiped the works of their own hands, and lied and killed one another.
The whole world was going bad again and forgetting God, so God called Abraham.
Every age, every part of the Bible from Adam to Jesus, and all the covenants and changes between had to do with God dealing with sin.
I need to add this major point in before moving on.
Most people think Abel sacrificed his animals, again these people have the same problem as those who say Angels had sex with women and Cain was Satan's sperm. They try to make life about the flesh, and do not understand God or the flesh and spirit. People want to attribute blood to Abel's Sacrifice but that is not true, just a couple translation issues because of the people's beliefs who translated the Bible and because Hebrews in the New Testament uses the word sacrifice when talking about Cain and Abel's sacrifice. Cain did not sacrifice his animal, he offered him. Most likely means he gave the best of his flock to his elder, or someone over him, maybe even his father Adam. Someone who would have been a priestly figure over Abel and Cain.
Genesis 4:1 And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the Lord.
2 And she again bare his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.
3 And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the Lord.
4 And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the Lord had respect unto Abel and to his offering:
Hebrews 11:4
By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.
Those are the only verses people have to go off of about Cain and Abel and their offerings. Hebrews said Cain sacrificed too, so does that mean that he slaughtered his cucumbers? The difference was, Abel gave the best of what he had, the fat of his flock. Cain gave his leftovers to God.
1 John 3:12
Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous.
It wasn't because Cain offered vegetables and Abel offered meat, it was because Abel gave the best of his and Cain did not.
They weren't sacrificing animals until after the flood, until God destroyed the world for sin, and restarted. They weren't commanded by God to eat animals, or allowed by God to eat animals before the flood.
Genesis 1:30
And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.
Adam and Eve and their age was to eat only plants.
Genesis 9:3 Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things.
It was after Noah that they started sacrificing for sin and eating meat.
Genesis 8:19 Every beast, every creeping thing, and every fowl, and whatsoever creepeth upon the earth, after their kinds, went forth out of the ark.
20 And Noah builded an altar unto the Lord; and took of every clean beast, and of every clean fowl, and offered burnt offerings on the altar.
21 And the Lord smelled a sweet savour; and the Lord said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man's sake; for the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done.
22 While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.
I’m not saying no one in the world ate animals or sacrificed before the flood, I am saying God did not allow it or command it, but everything changed after the flood, God would then have people who believed in him, eat meat, sacrifice, and even kill to protect themselves, their possessions and for God’s wrath. God had to change what he allowed and make a new covenant because mankind would always sin. Had God not made that new covenant he would have still just had to destroy the whole of mankind again. To stop from that, he made a new covenant and made the rainbow as a sign.
We can tell that how God deals with sin changes, but sin itself doesn't change. Here is a question everyone has, if sin and evil are different then why does the Bible put them together? It does and it doesn't. If sin is in the world and sin is condemned. If eating badly, drinking, masturbating, clothing choice, etc is missing the mark, or sinning, then surely murder, theft, cheating, etc is sin. All men were condemned for sin while sin was weighed in the balance. Sin and evil would be in the same category as judgment that kept people in the grave, and that would not change until Jesus came and made a difference. All people were condemned for sin until Jesus came and condemned sin.
Romans 8:3
For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
But before Jesus could come, sin had to be dealt with a different way so that God stayed true.
God called Abraham. The very seed of man was corrupt, being born made them sinners. Sperm is a corruptible seed. Everything born of it dies because you can only have sex through lust. The translators didn't dare translate these next verses correctly.
Luke 11:50
That the blood of all the prophets, which was shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation;
Matthew 25:34
Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
Here is the definition of the word "foundation" in those verses.
καταβολή, καταβολῆς, ἡ (καταβάλλω, which see);
1. A throwing or laying down: τοῦ σπέρματος (namely, εἰς τήν μήτραν), the injection or depositing of the virile semen in the womb.
The seed of man was corrupt. The foundation of the world was when Adam injected Eve with his sperm. That was the tree in the middle of the garden. That was their genitals in the midst of their body. That gave them the knowledge of good and evil. If they could create, they could destroy. They became as Gods being able to create life.
People have strange thoughts, they say, "If sex was a sin why would God give man genitals? Such a foolish statement. That is like saying why would God put a tree in the middle of the garden and say don't eat it? It was God's plan from the beginning. He knew man would fall and then each person would have a choice between good and evil, but God had to deal with sin.
God knew what would happen. Satan didn't pull one over on God. God had a plan to send Jesus all the way back from the foundation (Adam having sex with Eve) of the world.
Romans 8:20
For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope
God made a covenant with all of mankind, of all flesh that he would never destroy them off the face of the earth again for their wickedness, but that covenant didn't stop the people from being wicked, so God called Abraham. God made a covenant with Abraham, and the sign of their covenant was that they would cut off the foreskin of their penises.
What a strange thing to do, what a strange sign, if you don't ever know why they would circumcise. Why would God say take a sharp knife and slice the skin off your penis? Anyone would have thought that was insanity unless they knew the truth. God was having them reveal the head of their penis, reveal where the sperm came out so it could be seen. It was a way of saying, do not hide your sin from me, do not lie, but confess that you are a fallen seed, and confess the things you do in the flesh, do not hide who you are, be truthful then God would be their God and they would be his people. It was a confession that their seed was fallen, their seed was sin, their very body was sin, and through confession they could be led by God.
God didn't have rights to the flesh of man. That is why he had to kill all of mankind. He created them, he could kill them because they left him. That was within his power. It was not in his power to take Satan's seed and judge them and correct them. Adam and Eve had sex and their seed and flesh became Satan's because they listened to Satan's word to make the flesh seed.
God had to make a covenant with a man concerning the seed of the flesh, then God could have rights to their flesh. The covenant of circumcision between God and Abraham was just that, a way to say Abraham if you do this I will have rights to you and your seed, and you will be confessing that I have those rights. So, God got himself a people in the flesh,
a people he could work with because they made a deal concerning Abraham and his offspring.
God then separated Abraham from the rest of the world. He said leave your family, and your country and I will make a Nation out of you.
We see, even through Abraham and the covenant, it was about sin in the flesh, and it was God doing another thing, to deal with sin another way. God can only do what is right.
Genesis 12:1 Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee:
2 And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:
3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.
God had to separate a seed for himself from the rest of the world. GOD HAD TO! People think God can do whatever he wants but he cannot. He has to do what is right, work in the right way.
The whole world had gone back to how it was before the flood. God had promised he would not destroy mankind off the face of the earth again, so he called a seed, but he only called the seed of a man whom he separated from the rest of the world and gave the token of circumcision to set apart that seed in the flesh, so from that man's seed a redeemer could be born, who would reconcile all mankind, any who would, back to the Father.
Genesis 12:6 And Abram passed through the land unto the place of Sichem, unto the plain of Moreh. And the Canaanite was then in the land.
7 And the Lord appeared unto Abram, and said, Unto thy seed will I give this land: and there builded he an altar unto the Lord, who appeared unto him.
God had to wait until Lot Separated from Abraham.
Genesis 13:14 And the Lord said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward:
15 For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever. Genesis 15:6 And he believed in the Lord; and he counted it to him for righteousness.
7 And he said unto him, I am the Lord that brought thee out of Ur of the Chaldees, to give thee this land to inherit it.
8 And he said, Lord God, whereby shall I know that I shall inherit it?
9 And he said unto him, Take me an heifer of three years old, and a she goat of three years old, and a ram of three years old, and a turtledove, and a young pigeon.
10 And he took unto him all these, and divided them in the midst, and laid each piece one against another: but the birds divided he not.
11 And when the fowls came down upon the carcases, Abram drove them away.
12 And when the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram; and, lo, an horror of great darkness fell upon him.
13 And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years;
14 And also that nation, whom they shall serve, will I judge: and afterward shall they come out with great substance.
16 But in the fourth generation they shall come hither again: for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet full.
God could not Give the land to the seed of Abraham, he had to wait four hundred years because the sins of the Amorites were not yet full.
Even though God chose Abraham and was not dealing with the other nations, he still could not destroy the people living in the land because their sins were not full yet.
Evil breeds evil, hate breeds hate, unbelief breeds unbelief and false doctrine breeds false doctrine until there is no chance the people having God anymore. Until all the teachers are gone away and no one can teach what is right, and all the children have gone away, and cannot learn what is right. Evil has a purpose, only one, and that is to breed others to be evil and take them away from God. Good has a purpose, that is to breed others to be good and bring them to God.
The Bible shows that being the case throughout the entire story, even in Jesus' time.
Matthew 24:22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.
23 Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.
24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
This all has to do with sin and the way God works. The world converts the world to evil until no one is left who is good. Every now and then someone will have a perfect heart towards God and God will do a movement through them. A glimmer of hope.
Genesis 17:1 And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the Lord appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect.
2 And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly.
Genesis 17:7 And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee.
8 And I will give unto thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land wherein thou art a stranger, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God.
9 And God said unto Abraham, Thou shalt keep my covenant therefore, thou, and thy seed after thee in their generations.
10 This is my covenant, which ye shall keep, between me and you and thy seed after thee; Every man child among you shall be circumcised.
11 And ye shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin; and it shall be a token of the covenant betwixt me and you.
12 And he that is eight days old shall be circumcised among you, every man child in your generations, he that is born in the house, or bought with money of any stranger, which is not of thy seed.
13 He that is born in thy house, and he that is bought with thy money, must needs be circumcised: and my covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant.
14 And the uncircumcised man child whose flesh of his foreskin is not circumcised, that soul shall be cut off from his people; he hath broken my covenant.
Genesis 18:17 And the Lord said, Shall I hide from Abraham that thing which I do;
18 Seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him?
19 For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the Lord, to do justice and judgment; that the Lord may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him.
People think God chose Abraham for some reason, but God chose him because he knew him, he knew that Abraham would keep God's way and do justice so that God could bless him with all he promised him.
20 And the Lord said, Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous;
23 And Abraham drew near, and said, Wilt thou also destroy the righteous with the wicked?
24 Peradventure there be fifty righteous within the city: wilt thou also destroy and not spare the place for the fifty righteous that are therein?
25 That be far from thee to do after this manner, to slay the righteous with the wicked: and that the righteous should be as the wicked, that be far from thee: Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?
32 And he said, Oh let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak yet but this once: Peradventure ten shall be found there. And he said, I will not destroy it for ten's sake.
Since people have not heard from God, they don't understand the whole story, and since they don't know that story, they read the Bible like a fairy tale or some book but miss how it all had to do with sin. They miss all the most important parts. God could not save Sodom, God could not destroy the Amorites and give Israel the land until the Amorites sins were full. God could not show Abraham the land until Lot separated from him. God could not bring the Messiah through Ishmael, because Ishmael was not born of faith. God could not deal with the whole world, but had to separate a seed to himself and that through circumcision.
You see how the whole story, Adam, Eve, Cain, Seth, Noah, Abraham, Promised Land, Ishmael, Isaac, Sodom, circumcision, every bit of it had to do with sin and how God dealt with it. Man produced the flesh through Satan's word. God had to work inside those parameters.
Genesis 22:1 And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am.
2 And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.
Genesis 22:7 7 And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I, my son. And he said, Behold the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?
8 And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.
9 And they came to the place which God had told him of; and Abraham built an altar there, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar upon the wood.
10 And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son.
11 And the angel of the Lord called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I.
12 And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me.
13 And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son.
Abraham was promised by God that through Isaac God would make the seed of Abraham in the flesh as the sand of the sea. Abraham knew God could raise Isaac from the dead. The whole story of Abraham sacrificing Isaac is the story of God sending Jesus Christ. Abraham prophesied, God would provide himself a lamb. Not that Ram that Abraham sacrificed but the lamb Jesus Christ.
People think of Jesus as if Jesus fulfilled the prophets and the law, or defeated Satan and sin, and while that is true they really don't understand. The law was a fulfilment of Jesus, sin was a fulfillment of Jesus, Abraham and Isaac were a fulfillment of Jesus. I don't really mean a fulfillment, but those things happened because Jesus had already been slain, Jesus was already the plan before those things. People think Jesus made Judas betray him, but Judas was going to betray Jesus since before Adam had Sex with Eve. The prophets wrote things, because those things already happened in the future, which is how God works, seeing the end from the beginning.
Revelation 13:8
And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
Satan did not get one over on God, God had it all.
Jesus was slain from the foundation of the world. Don't forget what that means.
καταβολή, καταβολῆς, ἡ (καταβάλλω, which see);

Here is what the word world means

κόσμος kósmos, kos'-mos; probably from the base of G2865; orderly arrangement,
Jesus was slain since God set in order the arrangement he had planned for mankind, since Adam had sex with Eve.
